Laura Linney was one of the greatest American actors to emerge from the past. Her powerful and flimsy roles have made her a household name. Born to a famous playwright's father but was raised by a single mom who worked in the field of nursing, she was drawn to theatre when spending summers with her father, eventually studying acting, first in Brown University and then at Juilliard School. Her Broadway career shortly after graduating in the year 2000, before making her television debut the following year. Her appearances have been on a variety of shows on stage, television and film shows since that time. During her career she received numerous awards including the two Golden Globe Awards. Her nominations include five Tony Awards, and three Academy Awards nominations. In spite of all the recognitions and awards, theater is her main interest and she will continue to perform on the stage and on screen.
